The Hunter Valley Actors Centre was created in 2010 because of a passion for Acting and Theatre and the need to teach and impart knowledge and experience to others. In its second year, Theatrefest Hunter 2011 will be held at the Cessnock Performing Arts Centre on Saturday 10th September 2011, in which a 1 Act Play by the Graduating Students will also compete. In an Awards Ceremony, the winners are congratulated on their success in the 10 award categories. There is an Adjudicator with assessing criteria for each production and feedback is given after each performance. The Hunter Valley Actors Centre also produces Theatrefest Hunter 2011, which is a Festival and Competition of 1 Act Plays by Theatre Groups in the Hunter and as far away as Taree and Sydney. Each of the Tutors has had over 20 years experience in the industry and they bring a wealth of knowledge to the Hunter Valley Actors Centre and its Students. These are just a few of the many components of each course. The art of learning, narrative interpretation and direction, theoretical understanding, hands on experience, examples of technique, creativity and performance are gained through fun drama exercises and games, spatial awareness and production techniques. These Courses are designed in such a way that the process is fun and comprehensible. Each Course includes the Basic Fundamentals of Acting such as Voice, Movement and Improvisation, as well as other subjects, and concludes with a 1 Act Play Showcase that the Students have been learning and rehearsing for. Courses build on one another in-order to achieve a greater understanding of skills and techniques to deliver a believable performance. Private Tuition is also available upon request. It is located in Maitland and provides Acting and Theatre Courses for Adults and Children. (more).
